Horseshoe Lake

Horseshoe Lake, aptly named for its shape, boasts a rock bottom and spring-fed waters. These waters stay clean and crystal clear throughout the year. The lake sits in the Burley Creek watershed’s center, covering 40 acres. It has a 12-foot average depth. Visitors often enjoy swimming, boating, golfing, horseback riding, and fishing, all thanks to the lake’s peaceful environment.

Impressively, despite its size, anglers reel in a diverse array of fish. They catch rainbow trout, black crappie, large-mouth bass, pumpkin-seed sunfish, catfish, yellow perch, and bluegill. Notably, trout become more prominent in the early spring weeks. The Fish & Wildlife department provides public access with a boat launch. Additionally, the county park offers shoreline access.

Every April, they stock the lake with Rainbow Trout, creating an enticing early spring fishery. By June, the focus shifts to pan-fish. The lake features a vast designated swimming area, serene wooded trails, and BBQ-ready picnic areas. Children love the playgrounds. Sports enthusiasts appreciate the ball field. Moreover, visitors have access to restrooms and a Life Jacket kiosk. Importantly, the ball field and picnic areas don’t require any scheduling. Spanning 39 acres, Horseshoe Lake County Park presents a public space everyone can relish.
