Authentic Log Cabin Museum: Discover Port Orchard Old Traditions
The log cabin museum in downtown Port Orchard.
If you are looking for a historical attraction, you might want to check out the Port Orchard old tradition of the Log Cabin Museum.
The museum is a 1914 cabin that was built by Allan Bartow for his wife Louise, who planted the roses in front of it. The log cabin museum showcases the life and culture of the South Kitsap community over the past 100 years, as well as the story of the Orchard family, whose mannequins live in the cabin. As you walk through the museum it’s like stepping back in time. You can picture how the Orchard family celebrated Christmas years ago. Think about a cozy room with a warm fireplace, stockings lined up, and the family sharing fun stories. That’s the kind of feeling you get when you’re there.
The Log Cabin Museum is a great place to learn about the history and heritage of Port Orchard and its people. The museum is open on Saturdays from 11 am to 3 pm May to September or by appointment and admission is free, but donations are welcome.
If you want to learn more about this trip down memory lane, just call the Log Cabin Museum at (360) 876 3693. It’s free to enter, but if you like what you see, consider giving a donation. It helps keep the museum running and sharing the South Kitsap story with everyone. To learn more about the Sidney Museum and Arts Association visit their website here.
